The Houndstooth
Cape Queen Elizabeth – Bruny Island.
Dropping in on the south-eastern tip of The Houndstooth (at the northern end of Adventure Bay) the dive quickly falls away to ~30m.
At this depth incredible sponge gardens exist and huge rock buttresses covered in stunning zooanthids.
A gulch between The Houndstooth makes a lovely ascent and safety stop. This is at least as good if not better than Bicheno for scenery
Our second dive will be around the infamous “Keanes Crack” just west of Houndstooth.
Keane’s Crack: Putting a new spin on self-exploration our handsome Treasurer John kindly lent his name to Keane’s Crack after he first penetrated it a few years ago.
This lovely blue water 25m deep underwater crevasse has eroded over a few million years specifically for TUDC diving purposes! a nice 50m swim stretching in under Bruny that leads to a network of underground tunnels.
These have all yet to be explored.
Let’s go further than no man has ever been before into Keane’s Crack – bring your torches
We’ll be launching the boat from either Margate or Tinderbox so bring warm clothes for the trip.
